  • Authentic Collectables 1:18 Leyland P76 Targa Florio - Nutmeg Metallic
Product Description: 1:18 Scale Leyland P76 Targa Florio - Nutmeg Metallic

    Limited Edition Number: 318

Product Specifications: Sealed body resin with clear windows and detailed interior

    About This Product:

Leyland P76 – Anything but average.

Born into a climate of economic, social and political upheaval, and coming from one of the smallest manufacturers in Australia, the P76 was set to be an underdog from the very beginning. The Australian arm of the British Motor Corporation, Leyland Australia, had seen the need to have a large family car in their stables, and thus the idea for the P76 was born. Aimed to compete directly with the Ford Falcon and Holden Kingswood, it was decided that it should have a similar wheelbase to the Falcon, have more interior space than a Valiant, and a bigger boot than the Kingswood, and be more reliable than all three. With a meagre development budget of just $21m AUD ($283m AUD in today’s money) Leyland Australia set about developing the P76 with a heaping pile of features not found on any locally manufactured car at the time, and some that took nearly 10 years for the “Big Three” to incorporate.

The P76 was developed with a new 4.4 litre alloy V8 or 2.6 litre six cylinder engine connected to either a 3 speed manual column shift, a 4 speed manual floor shift, or a 3 speed automatic Borg Warner gearbox. It was fitted with MacPherson strut front suspension, 4 link coil spring live axle rear suspension, power disc brakes, and side intrusion bars as well, another first for the P76. The body shell was a monocoque unibody construction which gave the car a surprisingly low kerb weight of 1275kg, a good 230kg lighter than its counterparts. Its interior was roomy and well appointed and featured a cavernous boot, so large in fact that one of its claims to fame was the ability to house an entire 44 gallon drum and close the lid! The exterior styling set it aside from the softer Falcon and Kingswood, and was affectionately known as “The Wedge”.

With all of these features it took out Wheels Magazine’s coveted ‘Car of the Year’ award for 1973. Australians flocked to Leyland dealerships to buy the new wonder car but were met with an immediate shortage of cars, and long delivery delays. Flagging under the pressure to supply, Leyland rushed to deliver cars, and many had issues. Within months any problem – seemingly no matter how small - became national news and the view of the general public switched from wonder car to lemon. To make matters worse, British Leyland was crumbling and unable to support Leyland Australia, in fact there were rumours of British Leyland siphoning funds from Leyland Australia further worsening the situation. At the same time Australia was hit with a ‘Credit Squeeze’ and the pressure of the 1973 oil crisis pushed large family cars firmly out of fashion. By the mid 1970’s the perfect storm of conditions had killed Leyland, and with it the P76.

Meanwhile, the P76 was proving to be a contender on the world rally circuit, winning the Targa Florio section of the 1974 World Rally, and placed 13th overall. Leyland celebrated this victory by releasing the “Targa Florio” version with mag wheels, a sports steering wheel, limited slip diff and graphics pack.

The short-lived production run of the P76 ended in November 1974 with 18007 cars produced. It’s estimated that around 5000 cars still survive to this day in the hands of die-hard enthusiasts. Since its inception, the P76 has been a trend-setter, a polariser, a pariah, but undeniably a key part of Australia’s motoring history.

Love it or hate it, it’s earned it’s place as one of Australia’s most memorable cars.

Now, more than 50 years after the release of the P76 to the Australian public, Authentic Collectables are excited to announce to collectors the P76 Targa Florio in Nutmeg Metallic, scheduled to be produced in 1:18 scale sealed body with clear windows and high detail throughout, including the interior.

This will be our third and final release of the Targa Florio edition of the P76 in 1:18, following our previous Omega Navy and Aspen Green replicas.

This model comes in an exclusive limited edition of 318 and will include an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

    Limited Edition Number: 96

Product Specifications: Die-cast model car with detailed interior and opening parts (bonnet, doors and boot)

    About This Product:

At the 2022 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix race weekend, Tickford Racing unveiled an incredible black and red Ford Mustang GT, backed by FLEX Power Tools which was driven by James Courtney in the Melbourne 400 Supercars round.

The Mustang, featuring big and bold FLEX branding down the sides and black wheels, had a NASCAR vibe to its livery design and looked really tough.

More importantly however, was the number raced by Courtney across the weekend. A bright yellow #500 was stickered on the windows which acknowledged Courtney’s 500th championship race start that occurred that weekend. It was a significant milestone, Courtney became only the 9th driver in the history of the ATCC / Supercars to reach the number.

This 1:18 scale model has been produced in high quality die-cast with detailed interior and fully opening parts in a limited edition of only 96 with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

  • Authentic Collectables 1:18 Coca-Cola Racing By Erebus #99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 - 2023 Bathurst 1000 Pole Position
Product Description: 1:18 Scale Coca-Cola Racing By Erebus #99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 - 2023 Repco Bathurst 1000 Pole Position - Drivers: Brodie Kostecki / David Russell

    Limited Edition Number: 396

Product Specifications: Die-cast model, opening parts

    About This Product:

A new era began in 2023 when Gen3 Supercars were introduced to race in the Supercars Championship.

A significant evolution from the previous Gen2 platform, the Gen3 rules implemented a raft of changes for the Ford Mustang GT Supercar in 2023, with a large focus on achieving a much closer visual connection to its road going counterpart, more controlled parts and less downforce to encourage greater racing.

It's fair to say that the Gen3 platform really suited Erebus Motorsport and Brodie Kostecki straight out of the blocks. Now with major backing from Coca-Cola, Kostecki's #99 Camaro not only looks awesome, but has been fast all year, claiming multiple poles, race wins and podiums to sit around the top of the championship standings for the majority of the season.

Come the Bathurst 1000, Kostecki, joined by co-driver David Russell, continued the trend with the Coke Camaro looking ridiculously quick in the lead up to qualifying. After easily making the top-ten shootout, Kostecki blitzed the field with his one lap flyer by half a second - clocking a time of 2:04.2719s to see him claim his first Bathurst 1000 Pole Position honour.

On race day Kostecki and Russell both drove exceptionally well and led the race for 38 laps but ultimately couldn't match the strength of the #97 Triple Eight Camaro to finish one place off the top step of the podium in second place. It was the second time the duo had finished on the podium with Erebus after a third place finish in 2021.

This 1:18 scale model is scheduled to be produced in high quality die-cast with opening parts which includes the bonnet and both the driver and passenger doors.

A highly detailed racing cockpit can be seen through the molded clear glasshouse, or by opening the doors to examine the interior further. Under the bonnet includes a detailed 5.7-litre Chevrolet Racing LTR V8 and engine bay surround. Underneath the model, the undercarriage details the unique Gen3 floorpan.

Comprised of roughly 205 individual metal and plastic parts, with anywhere between 100-200 steps in paint and decoration finishing, including tampo printing where possible, photo etched parts including the bonnet pints, brake rotors and more, this is a high quality, detailed collectors model.

It has been produced in an exclusive, one-off limited edition of 396 with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity presented in its own, Authentic Collectables branded protective cardboard folder.
