A new era began in 2023 when Gen3 Supercars were introduced to race in the Supercars Championship.

A significant evolution from the previous Gen2 platform, the Gen3 rules implemented a raft of changes for the Ford Mustang GT Supercar in 2023, with a large focus on achieving a much closer visual connection to its road going counterpart, more controlled parts and less downforce to encourage greater racing.

Rising star Anton De Pasquale and Dick Johnson Racing joined forces for their third season together racing in the Supercars Championship for 2023. De Pasquale's #11 Shell V-Power Mustang carried the familiar red, white and yellow livery across the majority of the season which has become a mainstay for the team in recent years. With slight tweaks to suit the new Gen3 body shape, it continues to be one of the best looking liveries on the grid.

Come the endurance season, De Pasquale was joined by Tony D'Alberto once again on co-driving duties and at the Bathurst 1000, the duo battled the faster Camaro's admirably to ultimately finish on the podium in third place - the first of the Ford's home. Not the first time Dick Johnson Racing has claimed that honour at the Great Race.

The result was the first time De Pasquale had stood on the podium at Bathurst and it was the second time for D'Alberto who finished third with the team co-driving with Fabian Coulthard in 2017.

Mark Winterbottom is a legend of Supercars racing and in 2023 the star driver entered his 5th season with Team 18 to race the striking yellow DEWALT backed Camaro.

At the Perth SuperSprint, Winterbottom celebrated his 600th championship race start and joined the '600 club' with Craig Lowndes and Garth Tander - the only other drivers to accomplish the incredible milestone. To acknowledge the achievement, the team swapped out his regular season number #18 on the windows to #600 and also added a cool '600 Mark Winterbottom' graphic to the rear quarter panels of the Camaro for the round.

Jack Smith, representing BJR’s Racing, started 22nd on the grid and finished 14th with a time of 21:40.0154 after completing 8 laps in race 4 of the Melbourne sprint. The race was delayed due to a crash-strewn qualifying session but proved thrilling nonetheless! Smith’s maiden full-time season in 2020 had its ups and downs, and top 10s were hard to come by in 2021, but Smith has showed, more often than not that a big result is around the corner – we will be keeping our eye on his progress!
