The Spitfire F Mk.XVIII was a “Super Spitfire,” a refinement of the Griffon-powered Mk.XIV. Improvements included enhanced cockpit features, increased fuel capacity, and strengthened wings capable of carrying rockets or bombs alongside its cannon and machine guns. With a total production of 300 aircraft, the RAF received two versions: the F Mk.XVIII with the standard E wing and the FR Mk.XVIII equipped for photo reconnaissance. Although too late for WWII, these Spitfires saw action during ‘Operation Firedog’ and in the Malayan Emergency.
