Aircraft Kitsets

  • Tamiya Aircraft Series No.49 - 1/48 - Mitsubishi Isshikirikko Type 11 G4M1
The Isshiki Rikujo Kogeki ki (Isshikirikko), or Type 1 Land-Based Attack Aircraft, was more widely known as the G4M (Allied reporting name "Betty"). It was widely used by the Japanese Navy during WWII, as was particularly notable for contributing to the sinking of the British battleship Prince of Wales and battlecruiser Repulse near the beginning of the war. This kit accurately reproduces the Model 11, or G4M1, variant of this bomber, including its rotund, cigar-shaped fuselage. The flaps, engine cowl flaps, dorsal gun position, and upper part of the front canopy can all be assembled in either open or closed positions. Parts for a Type 91 torpedo, twelve 60kg bombs, and three crew figures, as well as six marking options are also included.

  • Guillows P-40 Warhawk
The P-40 earned undying fame as the "Flying Tiger" of World War 2 when flown by General Claire Chennault's Volunteer Group fighting the Japanese in China and Burma. It also saw much service in the Middle East where it was used by Britain's R.A.F. and nicknamed the Tomahawk and Kittyhawk. When World War 2 broke out, the P-40 was the only fighter available in quantity to the U.S.A.A.F., it being the first American single-seat plane to be manufactured in the U.S. on a mass production basis. By the end of the war, over 14,000 planes had been delivered to fighting theatres.

During the Battle of Britain, the Spitfires blunted the attack of the German Luftwaffe and buoyed British hopes in their darkest hour. It also flew in every front between 1939 and 1945 and was engaged in every major action fought by the R.A.F. in that time

  • B-25J Mitchell Kitset 1/72 Hasegawa
B-25J Mitchell. Made by Hasegawa, scale 1/72 plastic kitset.
Hasegawa has done it AGAIN! Their B-25 doesn't just raise the bar for 1/72 kits, it puts it in orbit! This kit features a full interior - cockpit, bomb-bay, rear gunner's area, bombardier's area, etc. The internal rib structure is fully represented, all the boxes and gear is there, the seats even have the lap belts molded in and the guns have dimpled cooling jackets! It's like a certain 1/48 kit got pantographed down! Surface detail is also exquisite, with very crisp recessed panel lines and raised detail where appropriate. Decals are included for 3 planes, all "gunships" with extra .50 cals in the glass nose: "Jaunty Jo" and "Miss B Havin" of the 498th BS, and "Bottoms-Up II" of the 486th BS. Although not called for in the instructions, the kit also features the "standard" nose glass for a stock B-25J if you do not want to build a "gunship".

  • E-2C Hawkeye JASDF Kitset 1/72 Hasegawa
At last, a new-tool kit of one of the most important aircraft used by the JASDF and US Navy. Without the Hawkeye, no one else would know where they were going or what they were heading into. Hasegawa has done the type justice, with recessed panel lines and raised surface detail where appropriate. The cockpit, landing gear and gear bays are well detailed, as is the landing light assembly in the nose. Flaps can be positioned up or down. Markings are given for four aircraft, and the antenna fit varies between some of them, so keep an eye on the instructions when building! Markings are for "456" and "452" of 601 Sq. AEW Group, and "462" and "454," both in AEW Group 20th Anniversary markings.

  • Messerschmitt Me262A-2a w/Kettenkraftrad Kitset 1/48 Tamiya
The world's first operational jet fighter is now available from the world's finest plastic model company!

When Tamiya's engineers sat down to design this kit, one marketing concern was that it was already available from other firms. How to make something that stands out? Frankly, being made by Tamiya is enough for me to make a kit stand out, but that wasn't enough for them. Enter the Kettenkraftrad! Not only do you get "bonus" parts, but the figures included let you create an instant mini-diorama (the Kettenkrad was designed by Tamiya's military model team, too). Includes markings for three different versions of this fighter/bomber.
